Casually Crafting – Turtle Sketch Challenge

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop, our blog hop focuses on a Casual Crafter, someone who may not yet have all the equipment, although probably will soon… This month our theme is a Sketch challenge. For my project I used the Turtle Friends bundle, stamp set and coordinating punch to create a #SimpleStamping card.

This months sketch

The objective of a sketch challenge is to create a project from a predefined sketch, see side. For my project I choose the Turtle Friends bundle and the 2021 – 2023 In colours.

Watercolouring Colours

I also used a piece of Pale Papaya Card and DSP from the 2021 – 2023 In Colours.

Turtle Friend Belated Birthday Card

I am away from home this month, .I therefore had limited supplies to create with. A stamp set and a co-ordinating punch are the perfect travel companions for a trip away from the craft room. These plus a travel ‘pack’ of staple crafty goodies enables you to create on the go… Because of this, this month’s project is a very simple card.

How to create my Belated Birthday Turtle card

  1. The card base is an A5 (15.8 x 10.5cm, half A4) piece of Thick Whisper / Basic White, folded in half on the long edge to create an A6 card base.
  2. A piece of Pale Papaya DSP was cut to create a layer (8mm smaller than the card base).
  3. The second layer was cut in standard Whisper / Basic White, I used a piece of ‘scrap’ card for this layer – therefore measurements were to fit the piece I found.
  4. I then punched a circle from the same piece of DSP (note the circle punches are now retired, but if you have a die cutting machine that’s perfect and opens your craty world to so many more opportunities. If not don’t worry, you can draw in pencil around a circle object a glass or an egg cup (which would be perfect for this size), and cut carefully with snips – it doesn’t need to be 100% perfect… mine isn’t.
  5. I stamped the turtle in Evening Evergreen ink and coloured in Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen using a combination of picking up ink and colouring with my Wink of Stella and stamping with a mix / blend of colours.
  6. The turtle was then punched and added to the DSP circle with Dimensionals.
  7. The sentiment was stamped in Evening Evergreen with a shadow of Pale Papaya onto scrap Pale Papaya card and layered onto Whisper / Basic White and added to the card,

I hope you enjoyed my project. Please find below more projects from the Casually Crafting Design Team.
