Casually Crafting – Hey Birthday Chick

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop. As Easter is nearly with us I have used used the Hey Birthday Chick as inspiration for my projects, an Easter gift tag and Easter chick gift packaging.

I loved colouring these with a selection of blues and greens from both of the watercolour pencils packs, blended with a Wink of Stella. Can you see the sparkle in the close up of this image?

Watercolouring Colours

I used Just Jade and Misty Moonlight as my tag bases and ribbons. The greetings are from Itty Bitty Greetings.

Cardstock Colours

The chicken gift boxes are simple to create when you know how, they use half a sheet of 6″x6″ DSP, trimmed to 15cm. With a 6cm scored central ‘panel’ which is then measured and marked at 6cm and 12cm on one side and 3cm and 9cm on the otherside. Scored from mark to mark from one side to the other to form triangles. These are then folded to create the box, the ‘long’ edges are folded on the inside and are then used to tuck in the overlaps to secure the box together… thereby creating a no stick box.

I created two of these from one sheet of Bumblebee DSP. I used the Tulip punch and Cinnamon Cider DSP to create the crest, and the Strawberry punch for the feet, with Cinnamon Cider ribbon. The beak was created in a similar way to the body on a MUCH smaller scale. With a ribbon bow and (retired) googlie eyes… who doesn’t love googlie eyes.

I hope you enjoyed my Easter gift projects. Please find below more projects from the Casually Crafting Design Team.
