Casually Crafting Blog Hop – Holiday Dreams

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop, we are a group of Stampin’ Up demonstrators, who would like to share our projects with you. We love cards that are simple and easy to make with just a few products, these would ideally suit beginner and casual crafter. We will be sharing our ideas on the 3rd Friday of each month and you can hop around the group and gather loads of inspiration. This months theme is Holiday Dreams. For this project I have used the stamp set Friend Like You.

Tropical Get Away

I couple of years ago I took 4 months off for my niece’s wedding in Australia and to explore New Zealand, visiting Thailand for 3 weeks on my return home to the UK. During that trip I took a couple of livaboard diving trips, and captured many a beautiful sunset over the water. The Friend Like You stamp set, rand out to me to capture a watery sunset, with the addition of a few palm trees.

This is a relatively simple card to create, using masking and ink blending as a background… I used daffodil delight, mango melody, pumpkin pie, melon mambo, rich razzleberry, blackberry bliss and night of navy (but you can get a good effect with fewer colours too). I stamped the images in blackberry bliss and layered on a thin layer of whisper white onto a blackberry bliss card base.

I just love the Happy Day! sentiment in this stamp set, as it is so versatile and can be used for many occassions.

I highlighted the stamped images with a white journaling pen, to reflect the moonlight shining off the trees (and the water). The dragon flies have been highlighted with a little wink of stella, although it is difficult to see in the photo.

As the card base is blackberry bliss, which is difficult to see any sentiment written on it, I added an insert layer, also stamped with blackberry bliss.

I hope you enjoyed my Holiday Dreams themed project and the rest of the Casually Crafting Design Team Blog Hop projects.
