Stampin Up New Year Treats

Having cooked creme brulee on New Years Eve, I had left over egg whites to use up, this therefore called for a batch of macarons to be baked and delivered as New Year gifts for my neighbours.

Three egg whites created two trays of macarons, which with breakages and some for my household allowed me to create ten boxes of four macarons each.

This week Mental Health Awareness week (UK), especially important this year due to the effects of the Coronavirus Lockdown. At the weekend I made strawberry Macarons with some egg whites I had left over from another recipe. But with over 40 made I needed some help to eat them. I decided to make up some Macaron gift boxes using the new in colours and the Flowers for Every Season DSP, along with the Lovely You bundle for the label.

Macarons

I made these using my Kenwood Chef, wearing a mask and using tongs to handle and package them. When cooking for others outside the household, extra care is needed in this crises. Fortunately I have a house full of gadgets and dug out from the back of a drawer a heat sealing tool. This enabled me to wrap and seal 4 macarons in a ‘cut down’ zip lock bag.

Boxes

The boxes were made with a plain base and a top with DSP panels and a Lovely You label “Just Because”.

Gift Cards

In each box I added a small matching gift card, which sat neatly on top of the macarons.

In total I made 9 of these boxes to present to my neighbours (leaving me with about 6 (of the more crushed) macarons to eat myself.
