Casually Crafting Blog Hop – Winter Is Coming

Welcome to our monthly Casually Crafting Blog Hop, This months theme is Winter Is Coming. For this project I have based my projects on the Snowflake Wishes Bundle (Snowflake Wishes Stamp Set and So Many Snowflakes Dies), which can be found in the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue.

Winter Snow

We have had a mild Autumn so far, but as November progresses it is getting gradually colder. As such I decided to use the Snowflake Wishes bundle for this months’ project. Using also the frosty colour combination of Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana.

Project Colours

My starting point for this project was a heat embossed, versamark and clear embossing powder, selection of snowflakes on sheet of Whisper white. I then cut this into four A6 pieces. This was subsequently blended over the embossed snowflakes (using the new blending brushes, available in the January – June 2021 Mini Catalogue) with a mix of the project colours.

I used the stitched rectangles to create my layers and sentiments, but these could also be created using the trimmer. The second of the cards above is a second of the heat embossed A6 pieces with a blended frame, created as above but on plain (not embossed) Whisper White card. The middle part of the frame was used to create a simple, but effective, third card. I die cut snowflakes to use as accents, some with pearls, but other embellishments or ribbon could be used in place of die cut elements.

Having created these three cards, I had 2 of my snowflake embossed A6 pieces remaining, which I used to create the following two cards.

I created the Highland Heather ribbon by colouring the Seam Binding Ribbon with the dark Highland Heather Stampin’ Blend.

At this stage I decided I wanted to showcase all the stamps in the set and all of the dies I therefore crated the following couple of cards.

I still hadn’t used some of the larger stamps and dies I therefor created a simple stamped card, #simplestamping (the sentiment could be cut using a trimmer / snips, I was using a sentiment I mistakenly stamped in the wrong colour) and a simple die cut card.

If you look closely at some of the photos you may notice that some of my cardstock (layers and die cut snowflakes) has been ‘pearlised’. this was achieved by applying frost white shimmer paint to the card using a dauber.

The above nine cards were produced using 9 pieces of A4 cardstock, 3 Whisper White (layers, sentiments and accents), 3 Whisper White Thick (card bases) and 3 colours (card bases, layers and accents).

At the end of theses projects I had some of the coloured and Whisper white cardstock left, I decided to die cut the remaining coloured card and some Whisper White. These were stuck to a Whisper White layer covered with adhesive sheet, the sticky gaps was infilled with retired Dazzling Diamonds glitter. This card was finished on an extra A5 sheet of Coastal Cabana (as a base).

This became one of my favourites, who doesn’t like a little glitter at Christmas and such a good way to use retired supplies.
